Mónica Guardado has specialised training in finance and business management and more than 25 years of experience dedicated to consulting, executive leadership, and business management. She stands out for her ability to launch new companies and business lines both in Spain and internationally, as well as for her leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams across different continents. She holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Oviedo; a Master’s in Banking and Finance from Afi Global Education; the Global Senior Management Program from Chicago Business School; the Digital Internet Business Executive Program from ISDI; the IC-A Diploma in Applied and Professional Ethics from the Instituto de Consejeros Administradores; and the Women Leadership Program from MIT Executive Education. She began her career as a Risk Controller at Ahorro Corporación Gestión, SGIIC. She joined Afi in 2000, became a partner in 2005, and has since worked in consulting, business management, and financial advisory services for companies and high-net-worth individuals. Since 2010, she has served as Managing Director of Afi Global Education, and since 2025 she has also served as President of Accedia. She has led the expansion of the Latin American market, with Mexico City as a base since 2017. In 2025, she launched Accedia, the result of an alliance between Afi Global Education and Core Networks, thereby developing the vocational education business line, of which she is President. Mónica also has experience developing international projects in the United Kingdom, Mexico, Portugal, and Panama, in collaboration with multilateral organisations such as IFC, part of the World Bank Group. She is an independent board member of several companies, including OMIClear, The Iberian Energy Clearing House, where she is also a member of the Audit Committee and Chair of the Appointments, Remuneration and Sustainability Committee. She is also a member of the Investment Committee of Fondo Bolsa Social, FESE, and is an individual business angel with shareholdings in several start-ups. ​ She is a trustee of the Fundación Afi Emilio Ontiveros and Vice-President and trustee of the Fundación Zaballos. ​ She founded “Mujeres que transforman,” an initiative that promotes gender equality in Spain and Mexico. She is a regular contributor to Empresa Global magazine, El País, Cinco Días, and Invertia, and also a frequent speaker at forums on economics, finance, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and gender equality. In July 2025, she was named a Lady of the Order of Knights and Ladies of Yuste, and in September 2025 she was awarded the Cross of Professional Merit with Distinction of Honour by the Honorary International Order of Merit.
