Mario Conde
Mario Conde (Tuy, Pontevedra, 1948) is a Spanish State Attorney, businessman, and author. At the age of 38, he became chairman of Banco Español de Crédito (Banesto), making him one of the youngest and most prominent bankers in 20th-century Spain, and a symbol of a generation of executives who transformed the national financial landscape. Throughout his career, he has developed an intense activity as a writer and critical thinker, publishing works on power structures, politics, and the Spanish economy, including the notable El Sistema (1994). He has actively participated in public debate on business ethics, governance, and the role of elites in society. His extensive experience across finance, law, and political thought makes him a distinctive voice on leadership, power, and the rules of the economic system.
