David Jiménez

Journalist

David Jiménez has been a war reporter, foreign correspondent, and editor-in-chief of the Spanish newspaper El Mundo. He has covered conflicts in more than 30 countries, including Afghanistan, North Korea, and Myanmar. His books have been translated into multiple languages and include the bestseller El director, his memoir about the year he led El Mundo. He has also published Hijos del monzón, awarded Best Travel Literature Book in Spain; El botones de Kabul, inspired by his coverage of the Afghan conflict; the literary reportage works El lugar más feliz del mundo and Los diarios del opio; and the novels El corresponsal and Días salvajes. A Nieman Fellow at Harvard University and a mentor to journalists, Jiménez has been a columnist for The New York Times and has collaborated with The Guardian, The Sunday Times, CNN, and BBC. In 2024, he moved into audiovisual production by founding the production company Cardinal Content. Current projects include the film adaptation of El director and a series inspired by his latest novel, Días salvajes.
