Carmen Torres is the News Director of Canal Sur Televisión. Born in Chiclana de la Frontera (Cádiz), she began working at Diario de Cádiz before finishing her degree. From 1999 to 2016, she covered political news for El Mundo de Andalucía. In 2016, she joined the founding team of the digital newspaper El Independiente in Madrid. During this period, she combined political reporting for El Independiente with analysis work as a contributor on TV and radio programmes for channels such as La Sexta, Telecinco, TVE, Cope, Canal Sur and EsRadio. She also wrote a book on the political figure of Pedro Sánchez, titled “Instinto de poder”. In February 2020, Carmen Torres was appointed Canal Sur’s delegate in Madrid, and in December of the same year she became Director of News Content and Digital Transformation at Canal Sur TV.
