Alberto García Reyes, who holds a degree in Journalism from the University of Seville, has always been closely linked to the newspaper ABC. He began his professional career in 1999 in the Culture section and later wrote for the Seville section. In 2014 he was appointed Deputy Director of ABC de Sevilla, a position he has held to this day, and in 2019 he also assumed the role of Head of the Local News Desk, where he has demonstrated his ability to organize a newsroom section and lead teams. He has also played a key role in driving his section’s transition toward digital journalism and premium content. Alberto masters all journalistic genres and formats: he is a chronicler, columnist, flamenco critic, investigative journalist, and reporter, among others. His work has earned him several awards: in 2010 he won the 11th Joaquín Romero Murube Award for his article “Poemas del oprobio”, becoming the youngest columnist to receive this prize; and in 2012 he received the Vocento Communication Award for Best Journalistic Work of the Year for uncovering the ERE political scandal in Andalusia. He collaborates with COPE radio and Canal Sur Radio and Television, and he is also the scriptwriter of the series “Curro Romero, Maestro del tiempo”. Since September 2022, he has served as Director of ABC de Sevilla.
